The Utah Utes had a rough outing against the Washington Huskies last week, but a little bit of home cooking seems to have fixed things right up. The Utes managed a 30-24 win over the Oregon State Beavers on Saturday. That's another feather in the cap for Utah, who also won these teams' last head-to-head.
Among those leading the charge for Utah was RB Ty Jordan, who rushed for one TD and 167 yards on 27 carries. More help came courtesy of DB JaTravis Broughton, who was good for nine tackles.
Special teams collected 12 points for Utah. K Jadon Redding delivered a perfect 3-for-3 game. Britain Covey's 64-yard punt return for touchdown should surely be counted as one of the game's standout moments.
No one had a standout game offensively for Oregon State, but they got scores from RB Calvin Tyler Jr. and WR Kolby Taylor.
The victory improved Utah's record to 1-2. The Beavers' overall record fell to 2-3.
The Utes will take on the Colorado Buffaloes at 9:30 p.m. ET next Friday at Folsom Field. Colorado is also hoping to continue their momentum after a 24-13 victory over the Arizona Wildcats on Saturday. Oregon State will be playing at home against the Stanford Cardinal at 3 p.m. ET next Saturday. Stanford is 1-0 after wins this season, and Oregon State is 1-1 after losses.
