Live scores, highlights and updates from the Utah State vs. New Mexico football game
Game Recap
The Utah State Aggies have more to be thankful for after their contest against the New Mexico Lobos on Thursday. Utah State took their game against New Mexico 41-27. That was the first win for the Aggies since their victory over New Mexico when the two teams previously met in November of last year.
Utah State's offense had trouble getting into gear in the first half and closed the half with six points. New Mexico countered with 13 points to make it 13-6 going into the half. The Utah State offense took control in the second half, however, scoring 35 points.
QB Andrew Peasley had a dynamite game for Utah State; he passed for three TDs and 239 yards on 21 attempts in addition to rushing for one TD and 118 yards. That nimble footwork stands out as the first time Peasley has hit the 100-yard rushing mark this season. More help came courtesy of S Shaq Bond, who was good for nine tackles.
The Aggies' defense was a presence as well, as it got past the Lobos' offensive line to sack the quarterback four times total. Leading the way was DE Nick Heninger and his two sacks. Heninger now has three sacks through five games.
The losing side was boosted by RB Bryson Carroll, who threw one touchdown.
The win improved Utah State's record to 1-4. New Mexico still hasn't won a matchup and fell to 0-5.
Utah State has the luxury of staying at home another week and will welcome the Air Force Falcons at 9:30 p.m. ET Dec. 3 at Merlin Olsen Field at Maverik Stadium. The Aggies will be hoping to continue their now three-game streak of scoring more points each game than the last. The Lobos will look to defend their home turf next week against the Wyoming Cowboys at 10:30 p.m. ET.
