The Temple Owls have had a week off and are no doubt ready to get back on the field. Temple and the South Florida Bulls will face off in an American Athletic battle at 7 p.m. ET Saturday at Raymond James Stadium. The point spread is more or less neutral, so fans should expect a close game.
The night started off rough for the Owls two weeks ago, and it ended that way, too. They took a serious blow against the Cincinnati Bearcats, falling 52-3. Temple was down 45-3 at the end of the third quarter, which was just too much to recover from. QB D'Wan Mathis had a memorable game, but not in the way you want to be remembered: besides failing to produce a single touchdown, he threw one interception with only 4.44 yards per passing attempt.
Meanwhile, South Florida scored first but ultimately less than the Tulsa Golden Hurricane in their matchup last week. South Florida lost 32-31 to Tulsa. The losing side was boosted by RB Jaren Mangham, who punched in one rushing touchdown.

A pair of defensive stats to keep in the back of your head while watching: Temple is 235th worst in the nation in rushing touchdowns allowed, with 16 on the season. South Florida has experienced some struggles of their own as they are stumbling into the contest with the 233rd most yards allowed per game in the nation, having given up 502 on average. It's possible one of these Achilles' heels will wind up tripping the losing team up.
