Live scores, highlights and updates from the UNLV vs. Kansas football game
3rd Quarter Report
Kansas is on the road but looking no worse for wear. They have jumped out to a 28-24 lead against UNLV.
If Kansas keeps playing like this, they'll bump their record up to 9-4 in no time. On the other hand, UNLV will have to make due with a 9-5 record unless they turn things around (and fast).
Preview
UNLV has enjoyed the comforts of home their last two games, but now they'll head out on the road. They and the Kansas Jayhawks will square off in the Guaranteed Rate Bowl at Chase Field 9:00 p.m. ET on Tuesday.
UNLV gave up the first points and the most points on December 2nd. They ended up on the wrong side of a bruising 44-20 walloping at the hands of Boise State. UNLV has struggled against Boise State recently, as their game on December 2nd was their fourth consecutive lost matchup.
Meanwhile, Kansas gave up the first points back in November, but they didn't let that get them down. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat Cincinnati 49-16 on the road. That looming 49-16 mark stands out as the most commanding margin for Kansas yet this season.
Jason Bean had a dynamite game for Kansas, rushing for 90 yards and two touchdowns, while also throwing for 250 yards and two touchdowns while completing 76.5% of his passes. Bean was no stranger to the big play, turning on the jets for a run that went for 50 yards. Kansas also got a significant boost from Devin Neal, who ran away from the competition to the tune of 106 yards.
UNLV's loss dropped their record down to 9-4. As for Kansas, their win bumped their record up to 8-4.
Looking forward, UNLV is the favorite in this one, as the experts expect to see them win by 13 points. For those looking to play the spread, take note: they are a solid 9-3 against the spread when playing as the underdog.
Tuesday's matchup might be decided on the ground as these two are both standouts in the run game. The Rebels have been excellent on the ground this season, having averaged 180.7 rushing yards per game. However, it's not like the Jayhawks struggle in that department as they've been averaging 211.3 rushing yards per game. It's looking like Tuesday's matchup might have some serious battles in the trenches. Check CBS Sports after the action for a full breakdown of the game and more college football content.
