UMass vs. Toledo updates: Live NCAA Football game scores, results for Saturday
Live scores, highlights and updates from the Massachusetts vs. Toledo football game
UMass will enjoy home-field advantage against Toledo on Saturday, and one look at the spread shows that they’ll need it. The teams are set to face off at 12:00 p.m. ET on Saturday. UMass is staggering into the match hobbled by five consecutive losses, while Toledo will skip in buoyed by four consecutive wins.
The point spread favored UMass last Saturday, but luck did not. They suffered a grim 52-28 defeat to Arkansas State. UMass was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 31-10.
UMass' loss came about despite a quality game from Greg Desrosiers Jr., who rushed for 75 yards, and also caught a touchdown. Most of those yards came courtesy of a 60-yard TD rush in the second quarter.
Meanwhile, Toledo had just enough and edged Northern Illinois out 35-33 on Saturday.
Dequan Finn went supernova for Toledo, throwing for 281 yards and two touchdowns on an 80% completion rate and rushing for 61 yards on only seven carries. Junior Vandeross III also helped out with an impressive 147 receiving yards.
Toledo's win bumped their season record to 4-1 while UMass' defeat dropped theirs to 1-5.
While only UMass took care of their fans the last time they played, neither team managed to cover. As mentioned, Toledo shouldn't be too worried about this matchup, as the experts have them favored by 19 points. This will be their first time playing as the favorites on the road this season.
UMass was pulverized by Toledo 55-10 in their previous matchup back in September of 2022. One of the biggest obstacles the team faced in that game was Toledo's Finn, who threw for 177 yards and a touchdown, and also rushed for 74 yards on only seven carries. Now that he won't be playing on Saturday, will UMass be able to walk away with a win? There's only one way to find out.
