Game Recap
The Louisiana-Monroe Warhawks experienced an absolute beatdown on Saturday but somehow put the pieces back together and came to play against the Coastal Carolina Chanticleers. Louisiana-Monroe came out on top in a nail-biter against Coastal Carolina, sneaking past 45-42. That result was just more of the same for the Warhawks, who also won the last time these teams played (Oct. 13 of last year).
The Warhawks got off to a slow start in their game last week against the Georgia Southern Eagles, but they had no such trouble against Coastal Carolina as they cruised to a 21-point first half. Coastal Carolina wasn't quite able to keep up, scoring 14 to make it 21-14 heading into the break. Louisiana-Monroe almost let the matchup get away from them in the second half, but they had just enough oomph to take it.
QB Caleb Evans had a stellar game for the Warhawks as he accumulated 346 passing yards and picked up 69 yards on the ground on nine carries. That was the first 300+ yard effort for Evans this season. Additional support came from defensive powerhouse LB Cortez Sisco Jr., who racked up 14 tackles.
The Warhawks will square off against the Louisiana Ragin' Cajuns at 11:11 a.m. ET next week at Cajun Field. Louisiana also lit up the scoreboard in their last contest, so this could be a high-scoring contest. As for the Chanticleers, they will face off against the Texas State Bobcats at noon ET at Brooks Stadium. Expect nothing less than a spirited matchup between these two teams hoping to trade a recent L for a W.
