UK vs. TENN updates: Live NCAAF game scores, results for Saturday
Live scores, highlights and updates from the Kentucky vs. Tennessee football game
Through 3 Quarters
Fans are certainly getting their money's worth as the Tennessee Volunteers and the Kentucky Wildcats have combined for 73 points three quarters in. Either team is in a position to win, but Tennessee leads 38-35.
The Volunteers have been riding high on the performance of QB Hendon Hooker, who has passed for three TDs and 271 yards on 18 attempts in addition to picking up 30 yards on the ground. QB Will Levis has led the way so far for UK, as he has passed for two TDs and 247 yards on 34 attempts in addition to rushing for two TDs and 72 yards.
Despite being behind, this is the most points UK has had yet this year going into the fourth quarter.
Who's Playing
Tennessee @ No. 18 Kentucky
Current Records: Tennessee 4-4; Kentucky 6-2
What to Know
The Tennessee Volunteers watched the action from their couches last weekend, but are set to take to the field. Tennessee and the Kentucky Wildcats will face off in an SEC battle at 7 p.m. ET Saturday at Kroger Field. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W.'
The oddsmakers predicted a rough game for the Volunteers two weeks ago, and boy were they were right. They suffered a grim 52-24 defeat to the Alabama Crimson Tide. Tennessee's defeat shouldn't obscure the performances of QB Hendon Hooker, who passed for three TDs and 283 yards on 29 attempts, and WR Cedric Tillman, who caught seven passes for one TD and 152 yards. That receiving effort made it the first game that Tillman has posted more than 100 yards receiving.
Meanwhile, UK came up short against the Mississippi State Bulldogs last week, falling 31-17. UK was down 31-10 at the end of the third quarter, which was just too much to recover from. QB Will Levis had a memorable game, but not in the way you want to be remembered: despite one touchdown, he threw three interceptions with only 5.36 yards per passing attempt.
This next matchup is expected to be close, with Tennessee going off at just a 1-point favorite. They have failed bettors playing the spread in their past two games, so buyers beware.
The losses put the Volunteers at 4-4 and the Wildcats at 6-2. A pair of defensive stats to keep in the back of your head while watching: Tennessee is 187th worst in the nation in rushing touchdowns allowed, with ten on the season. UK has experienced some struggles of their own as they are stumbling into the contest with the 197th most passing touchdowns allowed in the nation, having given up 11 on the season. It's possible one of these Achilles' heels will wind up tripping the losing team up.
