UAB vs. Louisiana: Live updates, score, results, highlights, for Saturday's NCAA Football game
Live scores, highlights and updates from the UAB vs. Louisiana football game
The UAB Blazers will look to defend their home field on Saturday against the Louisiana Ragin' Cajuns at 7:00 p.m. ET at Protective Stadium. UAB is out to keep their three-game home win streak alive.
In almost any game, 35 points would all but guarantee a win. Not in this one. The matchup between UAB and Georgia Southern on Saturday was't a total blowout, but with UAB falling 49-35 on the road it was darn close to turning into one.
Despite the loss, UAB got a solid performance out of QB Jacob Zeno, who threw for 385 yards and two touchdowns on 43 attempts. WR Iverson Hooks also helped out by posting a receiving touchdown.
In almost any game, 31 points would all but guarantee a win. Not in this one. Louisiana fell 38-31 to Old Dominion on Saturday. Louisiana was down 31-17 at the end of the third quarter, which was just too much to recover from.
Louisiana's loss came about despite a quality game from QB Ben Wooldridge, who threw for 285 yards and two touchdowns on 36 attempts. It was a true group effort though, as the team also got help from RB Jacob Kibodi, who rushed for 54 yards.
Looking ahead, UAB shouldn't be too worried about this matchup, as the experts have them favored by 2.5 points. They finished last season with a mediocre 4-8 record against the spread, so bettors beware.
UAB ought to be happy about their advantage in the spread: the team was a solid 6-3 when favored last season. A bettor who placed a $100 dollar bet on them to lose every one of the 12 games they played last year would have netted $807.11. On the other hand, Louisiana was 1-3 as the underdog last season.
