Toledo vs. Northern Illinois: Live updates, score, results, highlights, for Saturday's NCAA Football game
Live scores, highlights and updates from the Toledo vs. Northern Illinois football game
The Toledo Rockets will be playing in front of their home fans against the Northern Illinois Huskies at 3:30 p.m. ET on Saturday at Glass Bowl. Toledo is out to keep their four-game home win streak alive.
Toledo gave up the first points last Saturday, but they didn't let that get them down. They strolled past Western Michigan with points to spare, taking the game 49-31.
Peny Boone was on fire, as he rushed for 211 yards and two touchdowns. Boone was no stranger to the big play, turning on the jets for a run that went for 54 yards. Dequan Finn also deserves a shout-out for his two touchdowns.
Meanwhile, things haven't been easy for Northern Illinois recently, and their matchup on Saturday only extended their losing streak to three. They took a 22-14 hit to the loss column at the hands of Tulsa. Northern Illinois didn't live up to their potential and found themselves falling short of the advantage oddsmakers thought they had coming into the game.
Despite the loss, Northern Illinois got a solid performance out of Justin Lynch, who rushed for 84 yards and a touchdown.
Toledo's win lifted them to 3-1 while Northern Illinois' loss dropped them down to 1-3.
While only Northern Illinois took care of their fans the last time they played, neither team managed to cover. Looking ahead, Toledo is the favorite in this one, as the experts expect to see them win by 13 points. This contest will be their third straight as the favorites (a stretch that saw them go 1-2 against the spread).
Toledo took their win against Northern Illinois in their previous matchup last October by a conclusive 52-32. In that matchup, Toledo got a big boost from Finn, who threw for 167 yards and three touchdowns. After a big performance like that, there's no doubt Northern Illinois will try to keep him contained this time. Will they succed, or will Finn have yet another big game?
