Texas vs. West Virginia Live updates Score, results, highlights, for Saturday's NCAA Football game
Live scores, highlights and updates from the Texas vs. West Virginia football game
The Texas Longhorns and the West Virginia Mountaineers are set to square off in a Big 12 matchup at 7:30 p.m. ET Oct. 1 at Darrell K. Royal-Texas Memorial Stadium/Jamail Field. The Longhorns are out to stop a four-game streak of losses at home.
Texas fought the good fight in their overtime matchup against the Texas Tech Red Raiders last week but wound up with a less-than-desirable result, falling 37-34. The losing side was boosted by RB Bijan Robinson, who rushed for two TDs and 101 yards on 16 carries.
Meanwhile, West Virginia took their contest against the Virginia Tech Hokies last Thursday by a conclusive 33-10 score. The oddsmakers were on West Virginia's side, but they didn't give the squad enough credit as the margin was unexpectedly wide. They can attribute much of their success to RB Justin Johnson Jr., who punched in one rushing touchdown. Johnson Jr.'s performance made up for a slower game against the Towson Tigers two weeks ago.
Special teams collected 15 points for West Virginia. K Casey Legg delivered a perfect 4-for-4 game.
Texas and the Mountaineers now sit at an identical 2-2. Two stats to keep an eye on: The Longhorns come into the game boasting the 31st fewest touchdowns allowed in the nation at nine. But West Virginia enters the matchup with 20 overall offensive touchdowns, good for 17th best in the nation. We'll see which of these strengths -- offense or defense -- will win out.
