Live scores, highlights and updates from the Texas Tech vs. Oregon football game
The Texas Tech Red Raiders will be playing at home against the Oregon Ducks at 7:00 p.m. ET on Saturday at Jones AT&T Stadium. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, the two teams will really light up the scoreboard.
Texas Tech went for two against Wyoming on Saturday, and the resulting failed attempt cost them the game. Texas Tech and Wyoming were almost perfectly matched up , but Texas Tech suffered an agonizing 35-33 defeat. Texas Tech didn't live up to their potential and found themselves falling short of the advantage oddsmakers thought they had coming into the game.
K Gino Garcia launched a 0-yard kick between the uprights in the first quarter, which ended up accounting for the difference in the matchup. His longest was a 54-yard strike in the first quarter.
Even though they lost, the Red Raiders dominated in the air and finished the game with 338 passing yards. They absolutely destroyed their opponents in that department as Wyoming only threw for 149.
Meanwhile, Oregon gave their fans exactly what they wanted out of a home opener on Saturday. They claimed a resounding 81-7 victory over Portland State at home. Oregon pushed the score to 67-7 by the end of the third, a deficit Portland State had nochance of recovering from.
Oregon's win was the culmination of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from RB Bucky Irving, who rushed for 119 yards and two touchdowns. It was a true group effort though, and the team also got help from WR Troy Franklin, who found the endzone twice on 106 receiving yards.
Texas Tech will need to dig deep on Saturday, as the experts think they're headed for a loss. They finished last season with a 7-5 record against the spread.
While the Red Raiders is hoping for a better result this time, the Ducks is hoping to keep the momentum going. Check CBS Sports after the contest to see if Texas Tech succeed or if Oregon can keep it going.
