Texas State vs. Troy: Live updates, score, results, highlights, for Saturday's NCAA Football game
Live scores, highlights and updates from the Texas State vs. Troy football game
The Texas State Bobcats are 0-5 against the Troy Trojans since November of 2016, but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Saturday. Texas State and Troy will face off in a Sun Belt battle at 3 p.m. ET at Jim Wacker Field at Bobcat Stadium. These two teams are tiptoeing into their game after sneaking past their previous opponents.
It may have taken overtime to finish the job, but the Bobcats ultimately got the result they were hoping for last week with a 33-31 win over the South Alabama Jaguars. No one had a standout game offensively for Texas State, but they got one touchdown from QB Brady McBride. Near the top of the highlight reel was McBride's 57-yard TD bomb to WR Javen Banks in the first quarter.
Speaking of close games: last week Troy sidestepped the Georgia Southern Eagles for a 27-24 victory. RB Jamontez Woods was the offensive standout of the matchup for Troy, punching in one rushing touchdown.
The Trojans' defense was a presence as well, as it got past the Eagles' offensive line to sack the QB five times for a total loss of 34 yards. It was a group effort with five guys contributing.
The Bobcats are expected to lose this next one by 7.5. Those who got lucky with them against the spread last week might want to hold off on placing bets this time since the squad has yet to string together back-to-back wins against the spread.
The wins brought Texas State up to 2-3 and Troy to 3-3. A pair of stats to keep an eye on: Texas State is stumbling into the contest with the 208th most thrown interceptions in the nation, having thrown six on the season. Troys have had an even harder time: they are 187th worst in the nation in thrown interceptions, having thrown five on the season. It's possible one of these Achilles' heels will wind up tripping the losing team up.
