Texas State vs. Nevada updates: Live NCAA Football game scores, results for Saturday
Live scores, highlights and updates from the Texas State vs. Nevada football game
Nevada have enjoyed a two-game homestead but will soon have to dust off their road jerseys. They will take on the Texas State Bobcats at 7:00 p.m. ET on Saturday at Jim Wacker Field at Bobcat Stadium. Nevada have now lost 13 straight, and the team is hunting for their first win since September third.
Nevada traveled a rocky road last season, and unfortunately for them the road doesn't seem to have gotten any smoother. They fell 31-24 to Kansas on Saturday. The matchup was a 10-10 toss-up at halftime, but Nevada was outscored by Kansas in the second.
Despite the defeat, Nevada got a solid performance out of QB Brendon Lewis, who rushed for 58 yards and two touchdowns.
The Wolf Pack weren't very productive in the air and finished the game with only 113 passing yards. They were dismantled by their opponents in that department as Kansas threw for 298.
Meanwhile, even though Jackson State scored an imposing 34 points, Texas State still came out on top. Texas State took their contest at home on Saturday with ease, bagging a 77-34 win over Jackson State. The contest was all but wrapped up at the end of the third, by which point Texas State had established a 36 point advantage.
QB TJ Finley was on fire, as he rushed for 20 yards and two touchdowns, and also threw for 251 yards and three touchdowns. Finley wound up with a passer rating of 228.5. It was a true group effort though, as the team also got help from QB Malik Hornsby, who rushed for 133 yards and two touchdowns.
Texas State's defensive line made their presence known, laying out the QB six times. Leading the way was DE Deven Wright and his two sacks.
While only Texas State took care of their fans the last time they played, both teams pleased bettors by covering the spread. Looking ahead, they are the favorite in this one, as the experts expect to see them win by 17 points. This contest will be Nevada's third straight as the underdogs (a stretch that saw them go 1-2 against the spread).
Everything went Nevada's way against Texas State in their previous matchup back in September of 2022 as they made off with a 38-14 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for Nevada since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
