Temple vs. Memphis: Live updates, score, results, highlights, for Saturday's NCAA Football game
Live scores, highlights and updates from the Temple vs. Memphis football game
The Temple Owls and the Memphis Tigers are even-steven against one another since November of 2015 (2-2), but not for long. Temple has the luxury of staying home another week and will welcome the Tigers at noon ET Oct. 2 at Lincoln Financial Field. Temple will be strutting in after a victory while Memphis will be stumbling in from a loss.
When you finish with 248 more yards than your opponent like Temple did last week, a favorable outcome is almost sure to follow. They were the clear victors by a 41-7 margin over the Wagner Seahawks. The game was all but wrapped up at the end of the third, by which point Temple had established a 34-7 advantage. Their RB Kyle Dobbins looked sharp as he punched in three rushing touchdowns. Dobbins hadn't helped his team much against the Boston College Eagles two weeks ago, so this was a nice turnaround for him.
Meanwhile, it was a hard-fought matchup, but the Tigers had to settle for a 31-28 defeat against the UTSA Roadrunners last week. Memphis was up 21 to nothing at the end of the first quarter but somehow couldn't manage to seal the deal.
The Owls have to know they'll be fighting an uphill battle given the 11 point spread they are up against. They have failed bettors playing the spread in their past two games, so buyers beware.
Temple is now 2-2 while Memphis sits at 3-1. Two defensive stats to keep in the back of your head while watching: Temple is 240th worst in the nation in rushing touchdowns allowed, with 11 on the season. The Tigers have experienced some struggles of their own as they are stumbling into the contest with the 245th most passing yards allowed per game in the nation, having given up 348.5 on average. It's possible one of these Achilles' heels will wind up tripping the losing team up.
