Live scores, highlights and updates from the Syracuse vs. Liberty football game
Game Recap
After losing to the Liberty Flames the last time they met, the Syracuse Orange decided to demonstrate that turnabout is fair play. 'Cuse came out on top in a nail-biter against Liberty on Friday, sneaking past 24-21.
quarterIt took a quarter to shake off the cobwebs, but after zero 1st quarter points, the Syracuse offense picked up 14 points in the second quarter. The Flames countered with 7 points. 'Cuse almost let the contest get away from them in the second half, but they had just enough oomph to take it.
Syracuse's RB Sean Tucker was one of the most active players for the squad, rushing for one TD and 168 yards on 31 carries. QB Garrett Shrader had a good game, too, finishing with two touchdowns.
The losing side was boosted by QB Malik Willis, who passed for three TDs and 205 yards on 19 attempts in addition to picking up 49 yards on the ground.
The win bumped 'Cuse's record up to 3-1. With their first defeat of the season, Liberty fell to 3-1.
The Orange will square off against the Florida State Seminoles at 3:30 p.m. ET next week at Bobby Bowden Field at Doak Campbell Stadium. The Flames are staying on the road next week to face off against the UAB Blazers at 7 p.m. ET Oct. 2 at Protective Stadium.
