SYR vs. PITT updates: Live NCAAF game scores, results for Saturday

Through 3 Quarters

The Pittsburgh Panthers are just one quarter away from delivering their fans the win they've been expecting all week. It's looking more and more like their high-powered offense is just too much for the Syracuse Orange as Pitt lead 28-14.

QB Kenny Pickett has led the way so far for the Panthers, as he has passed for four TDs and 204 yards on 35 attempts. 'Cuse has been riding high on the performance of WR Courtney Jackson, who has caught five passes for two TDs and 57 yards.

'Cuse has lost 83% of the time when they were down heading into the fourth quarter this year, so this one seems just about wrapped up

Who's Playing

No. 17 Pittsburgh @ Syracuse

Current Records: Pittsburgh 9-2; Syracuse 5-6

What to Know

The Pittsburgh Panthers have enjoyed the comforts of home their last two games, but now they must head out on the road. Pitt and the Syracuse Orange will face off in an ACC battle at 7:30 p.m. ET Saturday at Carrier Dome. The Panthers should still be feeling good after a victory, while 'Cuse will be looking to regain their footing.

Pitt beat the Virginia Cavaliers 48-38 last week. It was another big night for Pitt's WR Jordan Addison, who caught 14 passes for four TDs and 202 yards. One of the most thrilling moments was Addison's 62-yard TD reception in the fourth quarter.

Meanwhile, 'Cuse was expected to have a tough go of it last week, and, well, they did. Their bruising 41-17 loss to the NC State Wolfpack might stick with them for a while. The Orange were in a tough position by the half, with the score already sitting at 28-7. RB Sean Tucker put forth a good effort for the losing side as he rushed for one TD and 109 yards on 14 carries. That touchdown -- a 55-yard rush in the second quarter -- was one of the highlights of the game.

The Panthers are the favorite in this one, with an expected 12.5-point margin of victory. Those burned by picking them against the spread last week might want to keep in mind that the squad has not yet dropped back-to-back games against the spread this season.

Pitt's win brought them up to 9-2 while the Orange's defeat pulled them down to 5-6. Two stats to keep in the back of your head while watching: Pitt is 197th worst in the nation in passing yards allowed per game, with 265.1 on average. 'Cuse has experienced some struggles of their own as they are stumbling into the contest with the 215th fewest passing yards per game in the nation, having accrued only 147.2 on average. It's possible one of these Achilles' heels will wind up tripping the losing team up.
