Live scores, highlights and updates from the Stanford vs. Utah football game
Game Recap
The Utah Utes ran circles around the Stanford Cardinal on Friday, and the extra yardage (581 yards vs. 167 yards) paid off. Utah took their game on the road with ease, bagging a 52-7 win over Stanford. The contest was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 38 to nothing.
RB Tavion Thomas had a dynamite game for the Utes; he rushed for four TDs and 177 yards on 20 carries. One of the most memorable plays of the matchup was Thomas' 58-yard touchdown rush in the second quarter. Working against Utah was the performance of QB Cameron Rising, who fumbled the ball once with only 140 yards passing.
Utah's defense was a presence, as it got past Stanford's offensive line to sack the QB five times for a total loss of 19 yards. It was a group effort with four guys contributing.
The Cardinal's only offensive touchdown came on a rush from QB Isaiah Sanders.
The matchup brought the Utes to 6-3 and dropped Stanford to a mirror-image 3-6.
Utah is staying on the road next week to face off against the Arizona Wildcats at 2 p.m. ET Nov. 13 at Arizona Stadium. As for Stanford, they will face off against the Oregon State Beavers at 5:30 p.m. ET next week at Reser Stadium. Neither of those teams managed to put together many points in their previous contests, so their meeting could be a low-scoring affair.
