The Southern Miss Golden Eagles kept a clean sheet against the Grambling State Tigers on Saturday and took the game 37 to nothing. The contest was all but wrapped up at the end of the third, by which point Southern Miss had established a 20 to nothing advantage.
The game leaves both teams with the exact same record at 1-1.
The Golden Eagles will square off against the Troy Trojans at 7 p.m. ET next Saturday at Carlisle-Faulkner Field at M.M. Roberts Stadium. If the matchup is anything like Southern Miss' 47-42 victory from their previous meeting in September of 2019, the scorekeeper will be kept real busy. Grambling State is staying on the road next Saturday to face off against the Houston Cougars at 7 p.m. ET Sept. 18 at TDECU Stadium.
