Meanwhile, everything came up roses for Rice at home against Texas Southern on Saturday as the team secured a 59-7 victory. With Rice ahead 42-7 at the half, the match was all but over already.
QB JT Daniels looked great while leading his team to the win, throwing for 255 yards and four touchdowns. Daniels wound up with a passer rating of 268.4. The team also got some help courtesy of RB Dean Connors, who rushed for 66 yards and one touchdown.
While only Rice took care of their fans the last time they played, both teams pleased bettors by covering the spread. Looking ahead, the matchup is expected to be close, with they going off as just a 2.5 point favorite.
