The Troy Trojans will square off against the South Carolina Gamecocks at 3:30 p.m. ET on Saturday at Williams-Brice Stadium. Coming off of a loss in a game they were expected to win, Troy now face the more daunting task of proving themselves against unfavorable odds.
The Trojans came up short against the Louisiana-Monroe Warhawks last week, falling 29-16. This was hardly the result Troy or its fans were betting on, as they were favored by 23.5 points over Louisiana-Monroe heading into this matchup.
Meanwhile, USC was within striking distance but couldn't close the gap last week as they fell 16-10 to the Kentucky Wildcats. No one had a standout game offensively for USC, but they got one touchdown from QB Luke Doty.
The losses bumped both teams down to an identical 2-2. A couple offensive stats to keep an eye on: The Trojans are 228th worst in the nation in rushing yards per game, with only 75.3 on average. The Gamecocks have experienced some struggles of their own as they are stumbling into the game with the 207th fewest rushing touchdowns in the nation, having accrued only one on the season. Looks like big plays on the ground might be a bit hard to come by this week.
