Live scores, highlights and updates from the South Carolina vs. Kentucky football game
Game Recap
On Saturday, the South Carolina Gamecocks were out to avenge their 41-18 defeat to the Kentucky Wildcats from their previous meeting last December, but they had no such luck. USC didn't finish too far behind, but the squad still lost 16-10 to UK.
RB Chris Rodriguez Jr. hadn't helped the Wildcats' cause all that much against the Chattanooga Mocs last week, but the same can't be said for this contest. UK can attribute much of their success to Rodriguez Jr., who picked up 144 yards on the ground on 26 carries. On the other hand, one thorn in UK's side was the less-than-spectacular play of QB Will Levis, who threw one interception with only 102 yards passing.
Most of the squad's points came courtesy of special teams, which contributed ten. K Matt Ruffolo delivered a perfect 3-for-3 game.
No one had a standout game offensively for USC, but they got one touchdown from QB Luke Doty.
The loss dropped the Gamecocks back to even at 2-2. The victory improved the Wildcats' record to 4-0.
USC will stay at home against the Troy Trojans at 3:30 p.m. ET Oct. 2 at Williams-Brice Stadium. Neither USC nor Troy could muster much offensive firepower in their last games, so look to the defense to decide this one. As for UK, they will go up against the Florida Gators at noon ET next Saturday at Kroger Field. Florida is also hoping to continue their momentum after a 38-14 win over the Tennessee Volunteers on Saturday.
