Preview
South Carolina will be in front of their home fans on Saturday, but a look at the spread shows they might need that home-field advantage. They will take on the Clemson Tigers at 7:30 p.m. ET on Saturday. Each of these teams will be battling to keep a three-game winning streak alive.
Last Saturday, it was close, but South Carolina sidestepped Kentucky for a 17-14 victory. Having forecasted a close victory for South Carolina, the oddsmakers were right on the money.
South Carolina can attribute much of their success to Xavier Legette, who picked up 94 receiving yards and two touchdowns, and Spencer Rattler, who threw for 207 yards and two touchdowns.
Meanwhile, Clemson gave up the first points last Saturday, but they didn't let that get them down. They came out on top against North Carolina by a score of 31-20.
Clemson's success was spearheaded by the efforts of Will Shipley, who rushed for 126 yards and a touchdown, and Cade Klubnik, who rushed for 44 yards and a touchdown. Clemson also got a significant boost from Phil Mafah, who ran away from the competition to the tune of 84 yards.
Their wins bumped South Carolina to 5-6 and Clemson to 7-4.
South Carolina barely slipped by Clemson when the teams last played back in November of 2022, winning 31-30. One of the biggest obstacles the team faced in that game was Clemson's Shipley, who rushed for 132 yards and a touchdown on only 15 carries. Now that he's got a second chance to win this matchup, will South Carolina still be able to contain him? There's only one way to find out.
