Game Recap
The South Alabama Jaguars fought the good fight in their overtime matchup against the Coastal Carolina Chanticleers on Friday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result, falling 27-21. The result was an unpleasant reminder to South Alabama of the 23-6 loss they experienced in the two teams' previous head-to-head last November.
It was another big night for Coastal Carolina's RB Shermari Jones, who rushed for one TD and 211 yards on 23 carries. That touchdown -- a 75-yard rush in the fourth quarter -- was one of the highlights of the game. The Chanticleers also got a nice defensive effort from DT Josaiah Stewart, who took down the quarterback three times.
WR Jalen Tolbert put forth a good effort for the losing side as he caught ten passes for one TD and 191 yards. One of the most thrilling moments was Tolbert's 57-yard TD reception in the fourth quarter.
The Jaguars' defeat pushed them down to 5-7. Coastal Carolina's win brought them up to 10-2. With that, the West Division playoffs come to an end.
