The North Texas Mean Green's and the SMU Mustangs' contest on Saturday was up for grabs at halftime, but the Mean Green were thoroughly outmatched 28-6 in the second half. North Texas' painful 35-12 loss to SMU might stick with them for a while. North Texas hasn't found any success against SMU since Sept. 1 of 2018, this defeat making it three in a row.
The loss dropped North Texas back to even at 1-1. The win bumped the Mustangs' record up to 2-0.
The Mean Green will square off against the UAB Blazers at 7:30 p.m. ET next Saturday at Apogee Stadium. UAB is hoping for a better outcome this game after a 56-7 loss to the Georgia Bulldogs. As for SMU, they will go up against the Louisiana Tech Bulldogs at 3:30 p.m. ET next Saturday at Joe Aillet Stadium. Louisiana Tech is also hoping to continue their momentum after a 45-42 victory over the Southeastern Louisiana Lions on Saturday.
