Live scores, highlights and updates from the SMU vs. Cincinnati football game
Game Recap
What a game for QB Desmond Ridder. Ridder passed for one TD and 126 yards on 21 attempts in addition to rushing for three TDs and 179 yards as the Cincinnati Bearcats beat the SMU Mustangs 42-13 on Saturday. That nimble footwork stands out as the first time Ridder has hit the 100-yard rushing mark this season. Ridder's sharp performance also set his single-game rushing touchdown high for the season.
In addition to Ridder, Cincinnati got help from RB Gerrid Doaks, who rushed for two TDs and 105 yards on 20 carries.
No one had a standout game offensively for SMU, but QB Shane Buechele led the way with one touchdown. Additional support came from defensive powerhouse LB Delano Robinson, who racked up 11 tackles.
The Bearcats' win brought them up to 3-0. SMU's loss pushed them down to 5-0.
Cincinnati will square off against the Memphis Tigers at noon ET next Saturday at Nippert Stadium. Cincinnati is heading into an offensive buzzsaw as that team is averaging 39 per contest. As for the Mustangs, they will face off against the Navy Midshipmen at 1 p.m. ET next Saturday at Gerald J. Ford Stadium. Like SMU, Navy is looking to wash their mouths of the taste of defeat after falling 37-21 to the Houston Cougars.
