After a two-game homestand, the Wyoming Cowboys will be on the road. Wyoming and the San Jose State Spartans will face off in a Mountain West battle at 4 p.m. ET on Saturday at CEFCU Stadium. Coming off of a loss in a game they were expected to win, the Cowboys nows face the more daunting task of proving themselves against unfavorable odds.
Wyoming came up short against the New Mexico Lobos last week, falling 14-3. What made the defeat an especially bitter pill for Wyoming to swallow was that they had been favored by 20 points coming into the matchup. QB Sean Chambers had a memorable game, but not in the way you want to be remembered: besides failing to produce a single touchdown, he threw one interception with only 96 yards passing.
Meanwhile, SJSU was able to grind out a solid win over the UNLV Rebels last Thursday, winning 27-20.
Wyoming is now 4-3 while the Spartans sit at 4-4. A pair of stats to keep in the back of your head while watching: The Cowboys are stumbling into the game with the 211th most thrown interceptions in the nation, having thrown seven on the season. SJSU is completely their equal: they are 211th worst in the nation in thrown interceptions, having thrown seven on the season. It's possible one of these Achilles' heels will wind up tripping the losing team up.
