San Jose State vs. San Diego State updates: Live NCAA Football game scores, results for Saturday

3rd Quarter Report

Only one more quarter stands between San Jose State and the victory they were favored to collect coming into this evening. Sitting on a score of 17-10, they have looked like the better team, but there's still one more quarter to play.

San Jose State entered the game having won three straight and they're just one quarter away from another. Will they make it four, or will San Diego State step up and spoil it? We'll know soon.

1st Quarter Report

Fortunes may be turning around for San Diego State after losing three in a row. They have jumped out to a quick 7-0 lead against San Jose State.

If San Diego State keeps playing like this, they'll bump their record up to 3-7 in no time. On the other hand, San Jose State will have to make due with a 5-5 record unless they turn things around.

Preview

San Diego State is 7-1 against San Jose State since October of 2015, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Saturday. The San Diego State Aztecs will head out on the road to face off against the San Jose State Spartans at 10:30 p.m. ET at CEFCU Stadium. San Diego State is staggering into the match hobbled by three consecutive losses, while San Jose State will skip in buoyed by four consecutive wins.

Last Saturday, it was a hard-fought game, but San Diego State had to settle for a 22-19 defeat against Colorado State. The close matchup was extra heartbreaking for San Diego State, who almost overcame a 19 point deficit.

Nobody from San Diego State had a standout game, but they got scores from Jalen Mayden and Jaylon Armstead.

Meanwhile, San Jose State put the finishing touches on their fifth blowout victory of the season on Saturday. They were the clear victor by a 42-18 margin over Fresno State. The oddsmakers were on San Jose State's side, but they didn't give the team enough credit as the margin was unexpectedly wide.

Kairee Robinson continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, rushing for 200 yards and two touchdowns while picking up 10.5 yards per carry. Robinson hasn't dropped below 100 rushing yards for four straight games. The team also got some help courtesy of Chevan Cordeiro, who threw for 146 yards and three touchdowns.

San Jose State's defense stepped up as well, laying out the QB five times. In that department, Noah Lavulo was the leader with two sacks.

Colorado State's victory bumped their season record to 4-6 while San Diego State's defeat dropped theirs to 3-7.

San Diego State is hoping to beat the odds on Saturday, as the experts think they're headed for a loss.

San Diego State strolled past San Jose State in their previous meeting back in November of 2022 by a score of 43-27. One of the biggest obstacles the team faced in that game was San Jose State's Cordeiro, who threw for 195 yards and three touchdowns, and also punched in a rushing scores. Now that he's got a second chance to win this matchup, will San Diego State still be able to contain him? There's only one way to find out.
