The San Diego State Aztecs are 3-1 against the Utah State Aggies since October of 2015, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Saturday. San Diego State and Utah State will face off in a Mountain West battle at 3 p.m. ET at Dignity Health Sports Park. The Aztecs have a defense that allows only 17.25 points per game, so the Aggies' offense will have their work cut out for them.
San Diego State was able to grind out a solid win over the Boise State Broncos on Friday, winning 27-16. San Diego State QB Jordon Brookshire was slinging it as he passed for one TD and 192 yards on 15 attempts in addition to rushing for one TD and 46 yards.
San Diego State's defense was a presence as well, as it got past Boise State's offensive line to sack the QB four times for a total loss of 27 yards. Leading the way was DL Jonah Tavai and his three sacks. Tavai now has 5.5 sacks through 12 games.
Meanwhile, the Aggies ran circles around the New Mexico Lobos on Friday, and the extra yardage (440 yards vs. 186 yards) paid off. Utah State was the clear victor by a 35-10 margin over New Mexico. The squad ran away with 28 points in the first half and mostly just sat on those in the second to pick up the victory. QB Logan Bonner had a stellar game for Utah State as he passed for five TDs and 312 yards on 22 attempts. Bonner's 76-yard touchdown toss to WR Derek Wright in the second quarter made for one of the most memorable moments of the afternoon.
San Diego State is now 11-1 while the Aggies sit at 9-3. The Aztecs are 9-1 after wins this season, Utah State 6-2.
