The Fresno State Bulldogs fell to the San Diego State Aztecs 17-7 when the teams previously met two seasons ago; this time around, they exacted some revenge. The Bulldogs came out on top against San Diego State by a score of 30-20 on Saturday.
Fresno State started the matchup off right with 20 first-half points. The Aztecs countered with 7 points. Although Fresno State wound up losing the second-half battle, they still had enough in reserve to win the war.
Fresno State's RB Jordan Mims was on fire, rushing for two TDs and 186 yards on 29 carries. Mims' longest run was for 59 yards in the second quarter. Additional support came from defensive powerhouse DB Evan Williams, who racked up ten tackles.
Special teams collected 12 points for Fresno State. K Cesar Silva delivered a perfect 3-for-3 game.
No one had a standout game offensively for the Aztecs, but they got scores from RB Greg Bell, WR Tyrell Shavers, and QB Will Haskell.
The win bumped the Bulldogs' record up to 7-2. With their first loss of the season, San Diego State fell to 7-1.
Fresno State will be playing at home against the Boise State Broncos at 7 p.m. ET next Saturday. Boise State is also hoping to continue their momentum after a 28-19 victory over the Colorado State Rams on Saturday. As for the Aztecs, they will go up against the Hawaii Rainbow Warriors at 11 p.m. ET next Saturday at Clarence T.C. Ching Complex. Hawaii also suffered a recent defeat, falling 51-31 to the Utah State Aggies on Saturday.
