Rutgers vs. Virginia Tech updates: Live NCAA Football game scores, results for Saturday
Live scores, highlights and updates from the Rutgers vs. Virginia Tech football game
The Rutgers Scarlet Knights will look to defend their home field on Saturday against the Virginia Tech Hokies at 3:30 p.m. ET at SHI Stadium. Rutgers should still be riding high after a big win, while Virginia Tech will be looking to get back into the win column.
Last Saturday, Rutgers took their matchup at home with ease, bagging a 36-7 victory over Temple. With that win, Rutgers brought their scoring average up to 30 points per game.
K Jai Patel played a big role in the win, making all three of his field goal attempts. The team also got some help courtesy of RB Kyle Monangai, who rushed for 165 yards and punched in a rushing TD.
Meanwhile, the point spread favored Virginia Tech on Saturday, but luck did not. They fell 24-17 to Purdue. The matchup was a 17-17 toss-up at halftime, but Virginia Tech couldn't answer the 7 points Purdue scored afterwards.
Looking ahead, Rutgers is the favorite in this one, as the experts expect to see them win by seven points. They finished last season with a 4-7 record against the spread.
Rutgers ought to be happy about their advantage in the spread: the team was a perfect 2-0 when favored last season. A bettor who placed a $100 dollar bet on them to lose every one of the 12 games they played last year would have netted $564.34. On the other hand, Virginia Tech was 1-6 as the underdog last season.
