Rutgers vs. Ohio State: Live updates, score, results, highlights, for Saturday's NCAA Football game
Live scores, highlights and updates from the Rutgers vs. Ohio State football game
The Rutgers Scarlet Knights are 0-4 against the Ohio State Buckeyes since September of 2017, but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Saturday. RU and OSU will face off in a Big Ten battle at 3:30 p.m. ET at SHI Stadium. The Scarlet Knights are out to stop a seven-game streak of losses at home.
RU came within a touchdown against the Michigan Wolverines last week, but they wound up with a 20-13 loss. No one had a standout game offensively for RU, but RB Aaron Young led the way with one touchdown.
Meanwhile, OSU turned the game against the Akron Zips into a track meet and took the gold after outgaining them 622 yards to 229. The Buckeyes took their game at home last week with ease, bagging a 59-7 win over Akron. With OSU ahead 38-7 at the half, the contest was all but over already. Their RB TreVeyon Henderson looked sharp as he punched in two rushing touchdowns.
OSU's defense was a presence as well, as it embarrassed Akron's offensive line to sack the quarterback nine times for a total loss of 47 yards. Leading the way was DT Haskell Garrett and his three sacks. Those were the first sacks for Garrett this season.
RU have to know they'll be fighting an uphill battle given the 15 point spread they are up against. They might be worth taking a chance on against the spread, however, as they are currently on a two-game streak of ATS wins.
The Scarlet Knights and the Buckeyes now sit at an identical 3-1. A couple stats to keep in the back of your head while watching: RU is 156th worst in the nation in passing yards per game, with only 195 on average. OSU has experienced some struggles of their own as they are stumbling into the matchup with the 187th most passing yards allowed per game in the nation, having given up 255.5 on average. It's possible one of these Achilles' heels will wind up tripping the losing team up.
