Rutgers vs. Maryland updates: Live NCAA Football game scores, results for Saturday
Live scores, highlights and updates from the Rutgers vs. Maryland football game
The Maryland Terrapins and the Rutgers Scarlet Knights are set to square off in a Big Ten matchup at noon ET Nov. 27 at SHI Stadium. Neither team wants a repeat from their last game since each was dealt a considerable defeat.
It's never fun to lose, and it's even less fun to lose 59-18, which was the final score in Maryland's tilt against the Michigan Wolverines last week. The Terrapins were in a tough position by the half, with the score already sitting at 24-3. No one had a standout game offensively for Maryland, but they got two touchdowns from QB Taulia Tagovailoa.
Meanwhile, the oddsmakers predicted a rough matchup for RU last week, and boy were they were right. They found themselves the reluctant recipients of an unpleasant 28 to nothing punch to the gut against the Penn State Nittany Lions. The Scarlet Knights were down 21 to nothing at the end of the third quarter, which was just too much to recover from. QB Noah Vedral wasn't much of a difference maker for RU; Vedral passed for only 91 yards on 23 attempts.
This next game is expected to be close, with Maryland going off at just a 1.5-point favorite. Now might not be the best time to take Maryland against the spread since they've let down bettors for the past seven consecutive games.
The losses bumped both teams down to an identical 5-6. Two defensive stats to keep in the back of your head while watching: The Terrapins are stumbling into the contest with the 226th most touchdowns allowed in the nation, having given up 43 on the season. The Scarlet Knights have experienced some struggles of their own as they are 199th worst in the nation in passing touchdowns allowed, with 19 on the season. It's possible one of these Achilles' heels will wind up tripping the losing team up.
