Game Recap
The Rice Owls experienced an absolute beatdown on Saturday but somehow put the pieces back together and came to play against the Texas Southern Tigers. Rice took their game against Texas Southern 48-34. The high-flying offensive effort was a definite turnaround from the Owls' flat performance the matchup before.
Rice's offense rushed out of the gates and came up with 20 first-half points. Texas Southern wasn't quite able to keep up, and the score was 20-6 heading into the break. The offense for Rice continued to do well in the second half, scoring another 28 points to put the game away.
Finally capturing their first victory of the season, Rice advanced to 1-3. The Tigers' overall record fell to 0-3.
The Owls will play host again and welcome the Southern Miss Golden Eagles to Rice Stadium, where kick-off is scheduled for 6:30 p.m. ET next Saturday. Unlike Rice, Southern Miss will be stumbling in off of a defeat. As for Texas Southern, they will go up against the North American Stallions at 3 p.m. ET next Saturday at BBVA Stadium. Like Texas Southern, North American is looking to wash their mouths of the taste of defeat after falling 47-3 to the Lamar Cardinals.
