The Miami (FL) Hurricanes are 5-1 against the Pittsburgh Panthers since November of 2015, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Saturday. Miami (FL) and Pitt will face off in an ACC battle at noon ET at Heinz Field. These two teams come into the game bolstered by wins in their previous games.
The Hurricanes can thank their lucky stars for their victory over the NC State Wolfpack last week. The final score was a hard-fought 31-30. Miami (FL) QB Tyler Van Dyke was slinging it as he passed for four TDs and 325 yards on 33 attempts. That was the first 300+ yard effort for Van Dyke this season.
Meanwhile, the Panthers were able to grind out a solid win over the Clemson Tigers last week, winning 27-17. It was another big night for Pitt's QB Kenny Pickett, who passed for two TDs and 303 yards on 39 attempts.
Miami (FL) is expected to lose this next one by 9. They might be worth taking a chance on against the spread, however, as they are currently on a two-game streak of ATS wins.
The wins brought Miami (FL) up to 3-4 and Pitt to 6-1. A pair of defensive stats to keep in the back of your head while watching: The Hurricanes are 210th worst in the nation in passing touchdowns allowed, with 12 on the season. The Panthers have had an even harder time: they are stumbling into the contest with the 163rd most passing touchdowns allowed in the nation, having given up nine on the season. It's possible one of these Achilles' heels will wind up tripping the losing team up.
