The best player on the turf between the Mississippi State Bulldogs and the Ole Miss Rebels on Saturday ended up on the losing team. Although he couldn't prevent a 31-24 defeat to Ole Miss, QB Will Rogers passed for three TDs and 440 yards on 61 attempts.
In addition to Rogers, MSU got help from WR Jaden Walley, who caught nine passes for 176 yards.
The Rebels' QB Matt Corral did his thing and passed for two TDs and 385 yards on 36 attempts. Near the top of the highlight reel was Corral's 81-yard TD bomb to WR Braylon Sanders in the second quarter. Ole Miss also got help from WR Elijah Moore, who showed off his sure hands for 139 receiving yards in the win.
This is the second loss in a row for MSU and nudges their record down to 2-6. The victory was the third in a row for Ole Miss and raised their record to 4-4.
The Bulldogs will have some time to rest before their next game, which is against the Auburn Tigers at 1 p.m. ET in two weeks at Davis Wade Stadium at Scott Field. As for the Rebels, their regular season is over.
