Oklahoma vs. West Virginia Live updates Score, results, highlights, for Saturday's NCAA Football game
Live scores, highlights and updates from the Oklahoma vs. West Virginia football game
Oklahoma is 6-1 against West Virginia since October of 2015, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Saturday. The Oklahoma Sooners will be playing in front of their home fans against the West Virginia Mountaineers at 7:00 p.m. ET at Gaylord Family-Oklahoma Memorial Stadium. Oklahoma will be looking to keep their five-game home win streak (dating back to last season) alive.
The point spread may have favored Oklahoma last Saturday, but the final result did not. They fell just short of Oklahoma State by a score of 27-24.
The loss doesn't tell the whole story though, as several players had good games. One of the most active was Gavin Sawchuk, who rushed for 111 yards and a touchdown on only 13 carries. Sawchuk was no stranger to the big play, turning on the jets for a run that went for 64 yards. Another player making a difference was Drake Stoops, who picked up 134 receiving yards and a touchdown.
Meanwhile, West Virginia humbled BYU with a 37-7 smackdown. West Virginia pushed the score to 37-0 by the end of the third, a deficit BYU cut but never quite recovered from.
West Virginia's win on Saturday was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from CJ Donaldson Jr., who rushed for 102 yards and two touchdowns on only 14 carries. Jahiem White also helped out as he racked up 146 rushing yards.
Special teams played a big role in the game for West Virginia, adding 13 points to the final score. All those points came courtesy of Michael Hayes: he added nine points with three field goals, and another four kicking extra points.
Oklahoma State's win bumped their season record to 6-2 while Oklahoma's loss dropped theirs to 7-2.
Going forward, Oklahoma is the favorite in this one, as the experts expect to see them win by 13 points. Bettors picking them against the spread have some confidence (to put it mildly), as the team is sitting on a three-game streak of failing to cover when expected to win.
Oklahoma couldn't quite finish off West Virginia in their previous matchup back in November of 2022 and fell 23-20. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of West Virginia's Garrett Greene, who rushed for 119 yards and two touchdowns on only 14 carries, and also threw for 138 yards and a touchdown. Now that Oklahoma knows the damage he can cause, will they be able to stop him this time? Check CBSSports.com after the match to find out.
