Oklahoma State vs. Texas Tech updates: Live NCAAF game scores, results for Saturday
Live scores, highlights and updates from the Oklahoma State vs. Texas Tech football game
Game Recap
The Oklahoma State Cowboys experienced an absolute beatdown Saturday but somehow put the pieces back together and came to play against the Texas Tech Red Raiders. Oklahoma State snuck past Texas Tech with a 50-44 win. The Red Raiders can consider this payback for the 45-35 loss they dealt the Cowboys the last time the teams encountered one another last October.
Oklahoma State's offense rushed out of the gates and came up with 21 first-half points. Texas Tech wasn't quite able to keep up, and the score was 21-17 heading into the break. The offense for Oklahoma State continued to do well in the second half, scoring another 29 points to put the game away.
RB Dezmon Jackson had only a few touches last week, but he got the ball a lot more this time and made it count. Jackson had a dynamite game for the Cowboys; he rushed for three TDs and 234 yards on 36 carries. That nimble footwork stands out as the first time Jackson has hit the 100-yard rushing mark this season. Jackson's sharp performance also set his single-game rushing touchdown high for the season. Speaking of playmakers, who could forget S Jason Taylor II, who went all the way with a kickoff return for touchdown in the third quarter?
Despite the defeat, the Red Raiders got a solid performance out of RB SaRodorick Thompson, who rushed for two TDs and 133 yards on 17 carries. One of the most memorable plays of the contest was Thompson's 59-yard touchdown rush in the first quarter.
The victory bumped the Cowboys' record up to 6-2. Texas Tech's overall record fell to 3-6.
Oklahoma State will square off against the TCU Horned Frogs at 1 p.m. ET next week at Amon G. Carter Stadium. As for Texas Tech, they will go up against the Kansas Jayhawks at 1 p.m. ET next week at Jones AT&T Stadium.
