Live scores, highlights and updates from the Northern Illinois vs. Western Michigan football game
Western Michigan and Northern Illinois are an even 4-4 against one another since November of 2015, but not for long. The Western Michigan Broncos will head out on the road to face off against the Northern Illinois Huskies at 7:00 p.m. ET on Tuesday at Brigham Field at Huskie Stadium. Northern Illinois took a loss in their last contest and will be looking to turn the tables on Western Michigan, who comes in off a win.
Last Tuesday, Western Michigan beat Central Michigan 38-28. The win made it back-to-back wins for Western Michigan.
Among those leading the charge was Jalen Buckley, who rushed for 117 yards and two touchdowns. Buckley was no stranger to the big play, taking off on a dash that went for 52 yards. Hayden Wolff also deserves a shout-out for his three touchdowns.
Meanwhile, Northern Illinois' game on Tuesday was all tied up 10-10 at the half, but sadly for them it didn't stay that way. They fell just short of Ball State by a score of 20-17. Northern Illinois didn't live up to their potential and found themselves falling short of the advantage oddsmakers thought they had coming into the game.
Trayvon Rudolph put forth a good effort for the losing side as he gained 126 total yards and a touchdown.
Western Michigan's win bumped their record up to 4-6. As for Northern Illinois, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 4-6.
Tuesday's match might be decided on the ground as these two are both standouts in the run game. The Broncos have been excellent on the ground this season, having averaged 168.1 rushing yards per game. However, it's not like the Huskies struggle in that department as they've been averaging 161.6 per game. It's looking like Tuesday's contest might have some serious battles in the trenches. Come back here after the game to find expert analysis of the match and other college football content.
Western Michigan couldn't quite finish off Northern Illinois in their previous matchup back in November of 2022 and fell 24-21. Can Western Michigan avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
