Game Recap
You're bound to get a positive result if you outscore your opponent every quarter, and that's exactly how it played out for the Charlotte 49ers two weeks ago. They put the hurt on the North Texas Mean Green with a sharp 49-21 victory. The oddsmakers were on Charlotte's side, but they didn't give the team enough credit as the margin was unexpectedly wide.
The 49ers' RB Aaron McAllister was on fire, rushing for one TD and 140 yards on 12 carries in addition to snatching one receiving TD. McAllister put himself on the highlight reel with a 66-yard TD scramble in the fourth quarter. QB Chris Reynolds had a good game, too, finishing with three touchdowns.
North Texas' loss came about despite a quality game from WR Jaelon Darden, who caught 13 passes for three TDs and 244 yards. Darden has now produced at least one touchdown in the past four games.
The 49ers' win brought them up to 1-2. The Mean Green are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-3.
Charlotte will have some time to rest before their next game, which is against the UTEP Miners at noon ET on Saturday at Jerry Richardson Stadium. Unlike Charlotte, UTEP will be stumbling in off of a defeat. North Texas is packing up and heading on the road for their first away contest this season. They face off against the Middle Tenn. Blue Raiders last week at Johnny (Red) Floyd Stadium at 5 p.m. ET. North Texas' scoring has been on the decline the past three games, which is obviously a trend Middle Tenn. hopes will continue.
