A well-balanced attack led the North Carolina Tar Heels over the NC State Wolfpack every single quarter on their way to victory on Saturday. The Tar Heels took their game against NC State by a conclusive 48-21 score. That 27-point margin sets a new team best for UNC on the season.
RB Javonte Williams had a stellar game for UNC as he rushed for three TDs and 160 yards on 19 carries. QB Sam Howell had a good game, too, finishing with two touchdowns.
UNC's defense was a presence as well, as it collected three interceptions and one fumble. Those interceptions were spread across their defensive unit.
No one had a standout game offensively for NC State, but they got scores from QB Bailey Hockman, WR Emeka Emezie, and WR Anthony Smith.
The victory improved the Tar Heels' record to 4-1. The Wolfpack's overall record fell to 4-2.
UNC will take on the Virginia Cavaliers at noon ET next Saturday at David A. Harrison III Field at Scott Stadium. Unlike UNC, Virginia will be stumbling in off of a loss. NC State can take some time to mend their wounds since their next matchup isn't for a while. They will face the Miami (FL) Hurricanes at Carter-Finley Stadium at 7:30 p.m. ET in two weeks. Miami (FL) is 3-1 after wins this season, and NC State is 1-0 after losses.
