The North Carolina Tar Heels will be playing at home against the App. State Mountaineers at 5:15 p.m. ET on Saturday at Kenan Memorial Stadium. Both teams come into the matchup bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
It took one tries, but North Carolina can finally say they have a win on the road. North Carolina walked away with a 31-17 win over South Carolina on Saturday. The contest was all but wrapped up at the end of the third, by which point North Carolina had established a 17 point advantage.
Meanwhile, App. State gave their fans exactly what they wanted out of a home opener on Saturday. They took down Gardner-Webb 45-24.
QB Joey Aguilar looked spectacular while leading his team to the win, throwing for 174 yards and four touchdowns on 13 attempts. Aguilar wound up with a passer rating of 298.6. It was a true group effort though, and the team also got help from RB Nate Noel, who rushed for 117 yards and punched in a rushing TD.
Looking ahead, North Carolina is the favorite in this one, and the experts expect to see them win by 18 points. They finished last season with a 6-8 record against the spread.
North Carolina won a match that couldn't have been any closer in their previous matchup back in September of 2022, slipping by App. State 63-61. Will North Carolina repeat their success, or do App. State have a better game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
