Utah State fell flat on their face against Boise State last Saturday, but memory of that harsh loss doesn't seem to have tripped them up today. Utah State has jumped out to a quick 14-7 lead against New Mexico. Utah State's offense has been firing on all cylinders thus far, outscoring their total from last Saturday with time still left to play.
If Utah State keeps playing like this, they'll bump their record up to 6-6 in no time. On the other hand, New Mexico will have to make due with a 4-8 record unless they turn things around.

Utah State has enjoyed the comforts of home their last two games, but now they'll head out on the road. They will face off against the New Mexico Lobos at 3:30 p.m. ET on Friday at University Stadium. Utah State might want some stickum for this game since the team gave up four turnovers on Saturday.
There was early excitement for Utah State after they claimed the first score , but it was Boise State who ended up claiming the real prize. Utah State took a serious blow against Boise State, falling 45-10. The loss unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Utah State in their matchups with Boise State: they've now lost eight in a row.
Even though the team lost, they still had their share of impressive performances. One of the most dominant came from Davon Booth, who rushed for 125 yards on only 12 carries. The team also got some help courtesy of Jalen Royals, who picked up 113 receiving yards and a touchdown.
Meanwhile, New Mexico made the experts look like fools on Saturday, as the team pulled off a huge upset of Fresno State. They walked away with a 25-17 win over the Bulldogs. The win was just what New Mexico needed coming off of a 42-14 loss in their prior contest.
It was another big night for Jacory Croskey-Merritt, who rushed for 204 yards and two touchdowns while picking up 9.7 yards per carry. Croskey-Merritt was no stranger to the big play, taking off on a dash that went for 50 yards. Caleb Medford also helped out with an impressive 122 receiving yards.
Utah State now has a losing record at 5-6. As for New Mexico, their win ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 4-7.
Looking ahead, Utah State is the favorite in this one, as the experts expect to see them win by 8.5 points. For those looking to play the spread, keep Utah State's opponent in mind: they have a solid 5-0 record against the spread vs New Mexico over their last five matchups.
Utah State strolled past New Mexico in their previous matchup back in November of 2022 by a score of 27-10.
