New Mexico vs. UNLV Live updates Score, results, highlights, for Saturday's NCAAF game
Live scores, highlights and updates from the New Mexico vs. UNLV football game
Game Recap
Their game last Friday wasn't at all kind to the UNLV Rebels, but their most recent game may have softened the blow. They beat the New Mexico Lobos 31-17 on Saturday. New Mexico can consider this payback for the 50-14 loss they dealt the Rebels the last time the teams encountered one another October of 2018.
UNLV can attribute much of their success to WR Kyle Williams, who caught seven passes for one TD and 137 yards, and RB Charles Williams, who punched in two rushing touchdowns. One of the most thrilling moments was Williams' 75-yard TD reception in the second quarter. QB Cameron Friel didn't exactly stuff the stat sheet, but finished with two touchdowns.
RB Bobby Cole hadn't helped the Lobos' cause all that much against the Wyoming Cowboys two weeks ago, but the same can't be said for this contest. Despite the defeat, New Mexico got a solid performance out of Cole, who punched in one rushing touchdown. That touchdown -- a 75-yard rush in the second quarter -- was one of the highlights of the matchup.
Finally capturing their first win of the season, UNLV advanced to 1-8. New Mexico's overall record fell to 3-6.
The Rebels will be playing at home against the Hawaii Rainbow Warriors at 4 p.m. ET next Saturday. Unlike UNLV, Hawaii will be limping in after taking a loss. As for New Mexico, they will face off against the Fresno State Bulldogs at 7 p.m. ET next Saturday at Bulldog Stadium. Like New Mexico, Fresno State is looking to wash their mouths of the taste of defeat after falling 40-7 to the Boise State Broncos.
