New Mexico State vs. Massachusetts: Live updates, score, results, highlights, for Saturday's NCAA Football game
Live scores, highlights and updates from the New Mexico State vs. Massachusetts football game
The Massachusetts Minutemen are staying on the road on Saturday to face off against the New Mexico State Aggies at 3 p.m. ET Nov. 27 at Aggie Memorial Stadium. Given that these two teams suffered a loss in their last game, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this game.
The contest between UMass and the Army West Point Black Knights last week was not a total blowout, but with the Minutemen falling 33-17 on the road, it was darn close to turning into one. No one had a standout game offensively for UMass, but they got scores from TE Josiah Johnson and TE Jacob Orlando.
Meanwhile, New Mexico State was pulverized by the Kentucky Wildcats 56-16 last week. New Mexico State was down 49-16 at the end of the third quarter, which was just too much to recover from. QB Jonah Johnson had a memorable game, but not in the way you want to be remembered: besides failing to produce a single touchdown, he threw one interception and fumbled the ball once with only 181 yards passing.
Most of the squad's points came courtesy of special teams, which contributed ten. K Ethan Albertson delivered a perfect 3-for-3 game.
UMass is expected to lose this next one by 6.5. Those who got lucky with them against the spread last week might want to hold off on placing bets this time since the squad has yet to string together back-to-back wins against the spread.
The losses bumped both teams down to an identical 1-10. Two defensive numbers to keep in mind before kickoff: The Minutemen are 248th worst in the nation in touchdowns allowed, with 61 on the season. The Aggies have experienced some struggles of their own as they are stumbling into the matchup with the 249th most passing touchdowns allowed in the nation, having given up 31 on the season. It's possible one of these Achilles' heels will wind up tripping the losing team up.
