The best player on the turf between the Hawaii Rainbow Warriors and the Nevada Wolf Pack on Saturday ended up on the losing team. Although he couldn't prevent a 34-17 loss to Nevada, RB Dae Dae Hunter rushed for two TDs and 174 yards on eight carries. Hunter put himself on the highlight reel with an 81-yard TD scramble in the second quarter.
RB Toa Taua was the offensive standout of the matchup for the Wolf Pack, punching in two rushing touchdowns. The team can also thank their defense for forcing the opposing offense to cough up 5 turnovers.
Hawaii's defeat pushed them down to 3-4. The victory bumped Nevada's record up to 5-1.
Hawaii will take on the New Mexico State Aggies next week at home. Hawaii will have the chance to boost their scoring average against a New Mexico State defense that has allowed 37 points per game on average. As for the Wolf Pack, they will go up against the Fresno State Bulldogs at 7 p.m. ET next Saturday at Bulldog Stadium. Like Nevada, Fresno State is also coming into the contest bolstered by a recent win.
