Nevada vs. Air Force: Live updates, score, results, highlights, for Friday's NCAAF game
Live scores, highlights and updates from the Nevada vs. Air Force football game
Game Recap
It may have taken triple overtime to finish the job, but the Air Force Falcons ultimately got the result they were hoping for on Friday with a 41-39 win over the Nevada Wolf Pack. Having forecasted a close victory for the Falcons, the oddsmakers were right on the money.
After a totally unproductive first quarter, the Air Force offense stepped up its game and put 17 points on the board in the second quarter. Nevada wasn't quite able to keep up, and the score was 17-3 heading into the break. Air Force let their lead slip in the second half to bring about an overtime, but they still came out alive.
WR DeAndre Hughes had a dynamite game for Air Force; he rushed for two TDs and 279 yards on 23 carries.
Air Force's defense was a presence as well, as it embarrassed Nevada's offensive line to sack QB Carson Strong seven times for a total loss of 46 yards. The heavy lifting was done by DT Jordan Jackson and DL Christopher Herrera, who each racked up two sacks.
Despite the defeat, the Wolf Pack got a solid performance out of WR Romeo Doubs, who caught ten passes for one TD and 140 yards. Near the top of the highlight reel was Strong's 61-yard TD bomb to Doubs in the fourth quarter.
The Falcons' win brought them up to 8-3. Nevada's loss ended a five-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 7-4.
Air Force will square off against the UNLV Rebels at 3:30 p.m. ET next Friday at Falcon Stadium. Unlike Air Force, UNLV will be stumbling in off of a loss. As for the Wolf Pack, they will go up against the Colorado State Rams at 9 p.m. ET next week at Canvas Stadium.
