Who's Playing

No. 9 Michigan @ Nebraska

Current Records: Michigan 5-0; Nebraska 3-3

What to Know

The Michigan Wolverines and the Nebraska Cornhuskers are set to square off in a Big Ten matchup at 7:30 p.m. ET Oct. 9 at Tom Osborne Field at Memorial Stadium. These two teams have allowed few points on average (Michigan 12.8, Nebraska 15.5), so any points scored will be well earned.

The Wolverines' contest against the Wisconsin Badgers last week was close at halftime, but Michigan turned on the heat in the second half with 25 points. Michigan took their matchup against Wisconsin by a conclusive 38-17 score. Michigan relied on the efforts of QB Cade McNamara, who passed for two TDs and 197 yards on 28 attempts, and WR Cornelius Johnson, who snatched two receiving TDs. Johnson had some trouble finding his footing against the Rutgers Scarlet Knights two weeks ago, so this was a step in the right direction.

Special teams collected 12 points for Michigan. K Jake Moody delivered a perfect 3-for-3 game.

Meanwhile, when you finish with 364 more yards than your opponent like Nebraska did last week, a favorable outcome is almost sure to follow. They steamrolled past the Northwestern Wildcats 56-7 at home. The game was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 35-7. QB Adrian Martinez had a stellar game for Nebraska as he passed for one TD and 202 yards on 17 attempts in addition to rushing for three TDs and 50 yards.

This next contest is expected to be close, with Michigan going off at just a 2.5-point favorite. Those who got lucky with them against the spread last week might want to hold off on placing bets this time since the team has yet to string together back-to-back wins against the spread.

The wins brought the Wolverines up to 5-0 and the Cornhuskers to 3-3. A couple offensive stats to keep in the back of your head while watching: Michigan is stumbling into the matchup with the 178th fewest passing yards per game in the nation, having accrued only 181.8 on average. Nebraska's offense has more to brag about, as they they come into the matchup boasting the 13th most overall offensive touchdowns in the nation at 26.
