ND vs. BC: Live updates, score, results, highlights, for Saturday's NCAAF game
Live scores, highlights and updates from the Notre Dame vs. Boston College football game
Game Recap
The Notre Dame Fighting Irish ran circles around the Boston College Eagles on Saturday, and the extra yardage (493 yards vs. 170 yards) paid off. Notre Dame put the hurt on BC with a sharp 40-7 win. The matchup was all but wrapped up at the end of the third, by which point the Fighting Irish had established a 33-7 advantage.
Notre Dame QB Ian Book did work as he picked up 66 yards on the ground on 12 carries and threw three passing touchdowns. Kicker K Jonathan Doerer added his talents, too, launching four field goals between the uprights.
The Fighting Irish's defense was a presence as well, and it made life painful for the quarterback and got past BC's offensive line for a total of four sacks for a loss of 21 yards. Leading the way was DL Adetokunbo Ogundeji and his two sacks.
BC's only touchdown came from QB Dennis Grosel.
The victory improved the Fighting Irish's record to 8-2. The loss dropped BC back to even at 5-5.
Notre Dame will take on the Stanford Cardinal at 11:11 a.m. ET next week at Stanford Stadium. BC is staying on the road, facing off against the Pittsburgh Panthers at 3:30 p.m. ET at Heinz Field. Neither of these teams wants a repeat from their last game since each was dealt a considerable defeat.
