Navy vs. North Texas updates: Live NCAA Football game scores, results for Saturday
Live scores, highlights and updates from the Navy vs. North Texas football game
The North Texas Mean Green and the Navy Midshipmen will face off in an American Athletic clash at 3:30 p.m. ET on October 7th at Jack Stephens Field at Navy-Marine Corps Memorial Stadium. North Texas will be hoping to continue their three-game streak of scoring more points each match than the last.
North Texas gave up the first points last Saturday, but they didn't let that get them down. They strolled past Abilene Christian with points to spare, taking the game 45-31.
Chandler Rogers looked great while leading his team to the win, throwing for 321 yards and three touchdowns, while also punching in a touchdown on the ground. The team also got some help courtesy of Ayo Adeyi, who rushed for 110 yards on only 13 carries.
Meanwhile, Navy traveled a rocky road last season, and unfortunately for them the road hasn't gotten any smoother. They took a hard 44-30 fall against South Florida on Saturday. Navy didn't live up to their potential and found themselves falling short of the advantage oddsmakers thought they had coming into the game.
Despite the loss, Navy got a solid performance out of Blake Horvath, who threw for 83 yards and two touchdowns on only six passes. Horvath set a new season high mark in passer rating with 292.9. Tai Lavatai also deserves a shout-out for his two touchdowns.
The Midshipmen weren't very productive in the air and finished the game with only 90 passing yards. They were destroyed by their opponents in that department as South Florida threw for 338.
North Texas' win lifted them to 2-2 while Navy's loss dropped them down to 1-3.
North Texas will be fighting an uphill battle on Saturday as the experts have pegged them as the six-point underdog.
