Navy vs. Memphis Live updates Score, results, highlights, for Saturday's NCAA Football game
Live scores, highlights and updates from the Navy vs. Memphis football game
The Navy Midshipmen have been on the wrong side of a one-way rivalry with the Memphis Tigers and are hoping to record their first win since Sept. 8 of 2018. Navy and Memphis will face off in an American Athletic battle at 3:30 p.m. ET on Saturday at Jack Stephens Field at Navy-Marine Corps Memorial Stadium. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W.'
The Midshipmen came within a touchdown against the Delaware Fightin' Blue Hens last week, but they wound up with a 14-7 loss. One thing holding Navy back was the mediocre play of QB Tai Lavatai, who did not have his best game: despite one touchdown, he fumbled the ball twice with only 135 yards passing.
Meanwhile, the oddsmakers predicted a rough contest for Memphis last week, and boy were they were right. They have to be aching after a bruising 49-23 defeat to the Mississippi State Bulldogs. Memphis was in a tough position by the half, with the score already sitting at 28-3. Despite the loss, they had strong showings from QB Seth Henigan, who passed for one TD and 162 yards on 29 attempts in addition to punching in one rushing touchdown, and RB Jay Ducker, who punched in one rushing touchdown. That touchdown -- a 50-yard rush in the third quarter -- was one of the highlights of the game.
The Midshipmen ended up a good deal behind the Tigers when they played when the two teams previously met in October of last year, losing 35-17. Maybe Navy will have more luck at home instead of on the road? Watch the matchup and check back on CBS Sports for all the details.
